BC Conservative Leadership Race – The Puritan Argument
This leadership race may well be the most important in British Columbia history and in the wrong hands we will be defeated by the NDP. Note that In my title I did not use the word debate, in a debate there is a discussion that leads to a conclusion, an argument is where the conclusion has already been decided.
There are 91 ridings in BC, each riding will have only one (first choice) one (second choice) and one *third choice) meaning our votes really count and really matter. The rules are sort of complicated and can be found here.
Let’s dive into this argument, it intentionally disqualifies 3 candidates and qualifies only 2 candidates. The argument defines those who had memberships in either the BC Liberal or BC United are often defined by these people as sinister “LIBERALS” who are hell-bent on taking over control of the BC Conservative Party. Its very underhanded it’s a blatant lie used under the premise of all is fair in an election, even outright lies.
This is a disgusting show of low or NO moral leadership, its disgraceful that members of OUR party participate in such despicable practices. How can we condemn the NDP on moral issues when we cannot even run a clean election?
Let’s get a few facts straight, every BC Conservative who previously belonged to either BC United, or the BC Liberal Party or the previous Social Credit Party should be mad as hell at these young fools who are clueless about British Columbia history.
Face it without the members of BC United and BC Liberals, this Conservative Party would not even exist. Subtract all those who had memberships in BC United and BC Conservative and all you will have left is inexperienced wannabees lusting for power. Founding members like Aaron Gunn had membership in the BC Liberal party, so did John Rustad, the man who almost defeated the NDP, then was railroaded out of his position by the man who ran Peter Milobar’s campaign.
This puritan obsession will destroy any hopes of winning an election in our future. The next leader needs to do what Pierre Pouliver did, bringing everyone from centre to the right (I did not say far right) together. We need to bring everyone who is not a socialist on board to remove this cancer we call NDP. These puritans would likely chase out every union member wishing to become a BC Conservative, simply because they are defiled by their past allegiances.
Far right meaning PPC or OneBC.
Most disgusting is the candidates who are feeding this insane notion in order to get elected. Will they do a 180-degree turn the day after they have the power and invite all of British Columbia to support them?
By their standard every voter younger than those old enough to vote after 2023 can be called pure conservative. If you voted prior to 2023 you are a contaminated Liberal or an NDP’r or God forbid a Green or OneBC.
Then you have two candidates claiming they are the only two pure Conservatives in this leadership race. Both Kerry-Lynne D Findlay and Yuri Fulmer are hard selling that they are the only true Conservatives.
However, both these two voted for the BC Liberals with their wallets, and it’s hard to believe they would not have also had memberships to this party. Possible but that information is so confidential nobody gets to see it.

In 1969 the Social Credit Party achieved 47% of the popular vote and won 38 of 55 seats. The membership was over 80 Thousand members. The population of British Columbia in 1969 was approximately 2.06 million.
The BC Conservative Party today has just over 40 Thousand members. BC Population 2026:
Population Total: 5,658,528
Read those numbers again, because this nonsense of puritan conservatives will cost us the next election. If we are going to win we need double the number of supporters that the Social Credit had. Insulting BC Conservatives for holding memberships to BC United or BC Liberals is going to eliminate our party from winning the next election.
Think about that before you vote for a Puritan Conservative candidate.
I extend my apologies to the puritans (or puritain in French) is a member of a 16th–17th century Protestant group that sought to “purify” the Church of England of remaining Catholic practices, to make my point.
Next I will do a candidate review on each of the candidates vying for the leadership of the BC Conservative party.
