(0:00) Is there potentially more political capital to be expended if the prime minister does

(0:05) reach an agreement with Alberta on a potential pipeline and removal of certain climate regulations,

(0:12) Christy?

(0:12) If the prime minister wants to demonstrate something to Albertans and to investors, (0:17) he should get rid of the tanker ban on the North Coast, which was always just preformative, (0:21) silly messaging from the Trudeau government. (0:24) And, you know, while Alaskans are shipping all kinds of oil right along the exact same (0:30) route every day of every week. (0:32) So I think that would be probably more comfort.

(0:36) I think that what Tony said is relevant. (0:38) The financing question does matter. (0:41) But when I think about that, I don’t think just about government financing.

(0:45) I think about trying to offer comfort and security to all the investors all around (0:51) the world, in China, Japan, India, South Korea, that might, that do want to invest (0:56) in Canada but have been scared away by government’s failure to support projects. (1:01) And I think what Carney is trying to do is instill confidence. (1:06) And, you know, confidence isn’t something that you kind of, that only comes from having (1:12) a project completed and underway.

(1:14) I think the kinds of things that he’s doing now are, one by one, building confidence that (1:20) we will be able to attract the investment that we need for some of these projects. (1:24) And I think some of them should be oil projects. (1:27) I don’t know, though, that he’s done very much to support the hopes of the oil industry (1:33) and the confidence of investors that might want to invest in the Canadian oil industry (1:37) so far.
