Eby continues to Lie
Regarding our cover photo, there were two people from the Bulkley Valley-Skeena, John Ridsdale and Jesse Stoeppler from the Hagwilget Indian Reserve representing the Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition, and the Wilderness Committee and Stand.earth an American funded (Tides) extremist organization. There was never any Civil Society Press Conference, it was just a press stunt and photo opportunity.
David Eby continues to lie about the Northern Gateway oil pipeline, that was snuffed out by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s environmental posturing. The Enbridge Northern Gateway project had one-third ownership by Indigenous communities, before the now-familiar coalition of environmental organizations and Indigenous opponents derailed it with a court challenge claiming insufficient consultation. Trudeau declined to do that consultation, which effectively cancelled the project.
December 2013, the Joint Review Panel (JRP) for the Northern Gateway Project recommended approval of the project, subject to 209 legally-enforceable conditions. These conditions are requirements for the project and will form part of the certificates that the National Energy Board (NEB) will issue and enforce. Enbridge also engaged in its own extensive consultation process. It won the support of the majority of the aboriginal groups along the path of the pipeline, representing 80 per cent of the aboriginal population in the area. In other words, more affected aboriginal groups supported the pipeline than opposed it. That said, a number of aboriginal groups remained strongly opposed, especially coastal First Nations whose main concerns related to the effects of a potential marine oil spill.
“Those latte-sipping anti-pipeline zealots got their start with the NDP“
“This coward refuses to let citizens vote on this issue in a referendum”
